# How to increase the player slots for your Minecraft Server

All of our VoltHosting game servers come with unlimited player slots, but sometimes you need to specify a limit. This happens in Minecraft Java servers where the default limit is 32 players. Don't worry though! You can increase this limit for free by following the steps below.

1. First, login to the [VoltHosting game server panel](https://panel.volthosting.co.uk/). If you're unsure how to, view our [Logging Into Your Game Panel](https://wiki.volthosting.co.uk/en/article/logging-into-your-game-panel-1pygabl/) guide.

2. Then click on `Management`, then `File Manager` .

3. Now locate your `server.properties` file, and open it

4. Then, you need to edit your `max-players` property.

Locate the `max-players` setting, and change this to the value which you want. For example, `64`, then press `Save File` to save the file.

Java Example:

5. Once the file is saved. Head back to the console and restart (or start) your server to apply the changes.

6. Your player count will now be updated! Take a look at the server list to verify the change.
