# Why has your VPS not upgraded after an upgrade?

Sometimes after upgrading your VPS with VoltHosting, you must **STOP** and then **START** the VPS via the control panel. 

This can be done via the VoltHosting client area, or the VPS control panel. 

1. Firstly, login to the VoltHosting client area, or VPS control panel, and then find your server.

2. You will see the server power options once you're on the server's control page. Here, you need to press the STOP button.

|| Either of these options will work. Please double-check that your server has SHUTDOWN fully.

3. Once your server has **fully shut down**, you may now press the green arrow to start your VPS again.

4. This will now apply the upgraded specifications. Please connect to your server and check. If you're having issues, please reach out to our support team! We're happy to help :)
